Training and development is a function of human resource management concerned with organizational activity for improvement of performance of individuals and groups in organizational settings. It has been known by several names, including "human resource development", and "learning and development".

Training Needs Analysis

 

Training needs analysis is conducted to understand the kind of training required for the department / group / individual .Training Needs are alsoderived through competency mapping, appraisals and feedback from seniors.

Training

 

Training and development encompasses four main activities: training, education, coaching and development.

Training :This activity is both focused upon, and evaluated against, the job that an individual currently holds.

Education: This activity focuses upon the jobs that an individual may potentially hold in the future, and is evaluated against those jobs.

Coaching :This is an intense and hands on process of working with individuals on identified areas ( skill / attitude) on a personalised, one on one basis.

Development : This initiative focuses upon the activities that the organisation or the individual may get into, in future viz., diversification, expansion, process re engineering et al. Through his, a capable resource pool will be created for such futuristic scenarios.
